The iconic Big Ben and the Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament) sit on the banks of the Thames. The first royal palace, built here in the 11th Century, was destroyed by fire in 1512; after that it housed the Parliament of England. On 5th Nov 1605 Guy Fawkes and co planned to assassinate the king by blowing up parliament’s House of Lords. The attempt failed, the plotters executed, but we always remember, remember the 5th of November with bonfires. The original artwork from which I created this piece, was made from an intricate paper cut silhouette of the buildings, which I laid over a background of vibrant watercolour ink fireworks.

This glossy hardboard coaster has been reproduced from one of my original mixed media pieces featuring a hand paper cut silhouette of London’s famous Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, laid over watercolour ink New Year fireworks. Inspired from what I see in my garden, on my field work, travels and from life experiences, I work only from photographs that I have taken or sketches that I have made in the field. This coaster will withstand the hottest of brews or the coldest of cocktails and is easy to care for; simply wipe it clean with a cloth.

Coasters are made from a combination of 90% hardboard with 10% sawmill wood fibre waste making them very sturdy and robust. Finished with a stunning glossy coating, slightly bevelled edges and rounded corners, these coasters are easy care; simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth to keep them looking brand new! Recyclable. Coasters are sold individually (unless specified as part of a collection) and are boxed in a plain brown postal box for shipping. Coasters are not gift boxed unless this option has been selected.
