Incredibly, each year the Arctic tern has two summers; it migrates between its Arctic breeding grounds and the Antarctic. Spotted on a field trip to Potter Marsh near Anchorage, Alaska, whilst others swooped over the water, this Arctic tern alighted upon a wooden stump before my eyes allowing me to capture several photos from which to work. To create this paper marquetry piece, I challenged myself to work from an extremely limited palette of recycled and textured papers. Each piece of paper has been carefully selected, cut, shaped, inlaid and slotted together to fit like a tightly fitting mosaic or tiled floor to form this intricate creation in order to recreate the tern I saw on the wooden stump in front of me that day.

Coasters are made from a combination of 90% hardboard with 10% sawmill wood fibre waste making them very sturdy and robust. Finished with a stunning glossy coating, slightly bevelled edges and rounded corners, these coasters are easy care; simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth to keep them looking brand new! Recyclable. Coasters are sold individually (unless specified as part of a collection) and are boxed in a plain brown postal box for shipping. Coasters are not gift boxed unless this option has been selected.
