A greetings card created from one of my original recycled and textured inlaid paper marquetry pieces featuring a robin seen in Ireland, although we have robins nesting in our garden too.
Blank inside for your own message.
Inspired from what I see in my garden, on my field work, travels and from life experiences, I work only from photographs that I have taken or sketches that I have made in the field.
Each art card is printed in the UK by an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified printing company, with a zero waste to landfill ethos, using responsibly sourced FSC medium to heavyweight smooth board and supplied with an FSC heavyweight white or pearlescent paper envelope.
Ideal for: Anyone who loves garden birds, bird spotting, British birds, wildlife, nature, gardening, art.
The robins nesting in our garden are always taking a close interest at whatever we are up to, waiting for each worm to be unearthed and, since they’re always pretty vocal whilst they’re sat watching us, I’m sure they’re telling us to get a move on and uncover some more! I find robins quite comforting and uplifting little birds, even though they are usually being quite bossy; I remember gardening with my great uncle when I was growing up and one would often land on the garden fork handle to watch us, so now they remind me of him.
However, the robin featured here, was sitting fluffed up on the edge of a riverbank, on an icy cold winter day at Glendalough, Ireland; a vivid burnt-red tinged fluffball amongst the stark bare branched shrubs and overgrazed grass, calmly watching the world go by, whilst the freezing cold water of the Poulanass river raced over the rocks in front of him with the ruins of the monastery in the valley just beyond.
I recreated this chap using carefully selected, mono-printed, textured and recycled papers which I have cut, shaped, inlaid and slotted together to fit like a tightly fitting mosaic or tiled floor.
Each art card is printed in the UK by an FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified printing company, with a zero waste to landfill ethos, using responsibly sourced FSC medium to heavyweight smooth board and supplied with an FSC heavyweight paper envelope.
Each art card is directly digitally printed (using XXXXX TYPE INKS), thereby avoiding the more traditional use of printing plates or photo chemicals.
Since we usually exhibit at quite a few outdoor events, art cards you buy from us at events are wrapped in a protective plastic sleeve out of necessity to shield the card from damage by the elements. This sleeve is manufactured from thin, crystal clear polypropylene (PP5); a recyclable plastic. However, please check with your local authority to see if it is recyclable in your area. PP5 polypropylene is commonly recycled into the manufacture of automotive parts, plastic trays, shipping containers, bike racks, garden rakes, storage bins and many other common items.
Cards ordered on this website may be supplied “naked” without each card being enclosed in an individual protective sleeve, but any art cards in an order will be packed in a polypropylene protective outer as a “pack” to avoid them getting marked or wet in transit in the typical British weather that we enjoy! This packaging will be kept to a minimum.
Heavyweight envelopes are supplied with each card and are made from FSC paper. We usually use plain white or pearlescent white/cream envelopes.
Art cards are shipped in a board backed envelope or postal box as appropriate and are not gift packaged.
