Who doesn’t like sunflowers? Giants of the flower world, their stalks so tall that their huge, golden, smiling faces could be the sun itself, for all I knew when I was very little! I planted seeds and watched them grow in the garden and I dreamt of having a field of sunflowers. Whilst we feasted on their sunny cheer in the summer months, I watched the birds, goldfinches in particular, feast on their big, faded yellow plates of seed in the autumn. One year, at the start of autumn, I was visiting friends in the US and we spotted some sunflowers on the edge of a field; their sunny faces fading and their heads bent way down as if they were looking closely at the soil for a good place to shed their seeds for the following year. I figured that this was a rather fortuitous situation since usually I am not tall enough to see their faces up close, but on this occasion I was able to get some great detailed photos and drew these sunflowers using a vintage dip pen and acrylic ink upon my return to the UK.

Recyclable. Coasters are sold individually (unless specified as part of a collection) and are boxed in a plain brown postal box for shipping.
