Although I’ve got Celtic heritage, it was a couple of years with a base in Dublin and travels around Ireland that allowed me to explore the many beautiful Celtic carvings that Ireland has to offer. From the amazing illuminated art in the Book of Kells, such as these endless square corner knots, to those carved in stone on Celtic high crosses, or painted on old pub signs in towns and villages, you cannot miss Celtic knots. With no identifiable beginning or ending, their infinite pathway is often translated as symbolic of the unending cycle of life. To create this Celtic square knot, I’ve drawn thousands of tiny acrylic ink dots, using a vintage dip pen; the dots are spaced out or layered up to create the depth of the intertwining square knot work, which is embellished with the vibrant, watercolour pencil green foliage of Dicentra (Bleeding Heart).

Inspired from what I see in my garden, on my field work, travels and from life experiences, I work only from photographs that I have taken or sketches that I have made in the field. Coasters are made from a combination of 90% hardboard with 10% sawmill wood fibre waste making them very sturdy and robust. Finished with a stunning glossy coating, slightly bevelled edges and rounded corners, these coasters are easy care; simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth to keep them looking brand new! Recyclable. Coasters are sold individually (unless specified as part of a collection) and are boxed in a plain brown postal box for shipping. Coasters are not gift boxed unless this option has been selected.
