Strawberry Studios music recording studios were based in the town that I grew up in, south of Manchester and I used to go past them every day on my way to school, the plump red strawberry forming part of the sign on their front door with a big number ‘3’ on it; I was always quite disappointed when they updated that sign! The studios were named in honour of one of the partner’s (who went on to be a member of 10cc) favourite song (“Strawberry Fields Forever”, The Beatles) and although they were a really small recording studios, they attracted some huge names; Neil Sedaka, Barclay James Harvest, Paul McCartney and Manchester’s own Joy Division, The Smiths, The Stone Roses, and the Syd Lawrence Orchestra, amongst others, all recorded tracks there. Sadly, the studios were closed in the early 1990s. This piece is a small tribute to Strawberry Studios; a nice big strawberry from my garden, drawn in watercolour pencil, cut out and laid over a collage of music score.

Inspired from what I see in my garden, on my field work, travels and from life experiences, I work only from photographs that I have taken or sketches that I have made in the field. This coaster will withstand the hottest of brews or the coldest of cocktails and is easy to care for; simply wipe it clean with a cloth.

Coasters are made from a combination of 90% hardboard with 10% sawmill wood fibre waste making them very sturdy and robust. Finished with a stunning glossy coating, slightly bevelled edges and rounded corners, these coasters are easy care; simply wipe them clean with a damp cloth to keep them looking brand new! Recyclable. Coasters are sold individually (unless specified as part of a collection) and are boxed in a plain brown postal box for shipping. Coasters are not gift boxed unless this option has been selected.
